Yes, I know, I was making the point that talking live would be useless, because most of the time we aren't around.
Who wants to chat live? Same with IRC. Wait, why do we need separate chat rooms for the same topic? I have never seen such need in the PocketMine chat channel. Same with IRC. Wait, you mean there is GUI? Oh, how does moderation tool have anything to do with users?
I'm guessing they mean different IRC Chat programs. Such as MIRC, or online ones such as mibbit, webchat, kiwi etc.
@shoghicp used HexChat. I tried it, and it's quite good. It's written in Python, although I don't know why I have to mention this.
tried hexchat most time fail to connect due to host name blah blah blah or something only irc i can connect is onionirc via tor proxy but lets not make this into a hex chat help thread
Slack isn't well suited for support or a large community either. You can't really pop in and out, and it requires jumping through some hoops.
Many people do, I suspect that's why this thread was created. Keep random garbage chat away from useful conversations and you can have announcement channels (even though most announcements will be done on the forums anyway). Stop users posting links, fancy permission tags. Discords moderation tools are better than most other services out there, whether you refuse to accept that or not is not my problem. They may not directly affect the users either, but they indirectly help keep everything under control. Discord may not be perfect but it's pretty damn good compared to many other wanna be services out there. I'd say give it a trial run and see how it goes and if you don't like simply delete the server and continue using IRC. Slack requires invitations, unless somebody wants to make an email service dedicated to pmmp just so users can join it is highly inconvenient having to add users one-by-one.
i mean it's about as easy to join as this forum maybe a bit easier but hey the irc works so no real reason to change I guess
You can create many public slack channels. However, you cannot publicly invite people to teams without using other tools which is a pain. We're better off switching to a tool that will let anybody come and go as they please rather than restricting access.
