This is not an official proposal or referendum. This is only a request for opinions. As many might have noticed and/or complained, the like button is absent from the Off-Topic forum, and posts there don't count in your post count. This is mainly due to the vast number of forum game posts (see the "Count to 10000" thread... or will someone edit it and change it to 100000 one day?) that will bump post count rapidly. However, there are a lot of off-topic discussions that are actually meaningful and deserve likes. In the end, we are forcing the creation of posts that only contain simple content like "*Like*", which is not what we desire. In this thread, I am suggesting separation of the Off-Topic forum into an alternative "Forum Games" forum, only hiding the posts and likes from the "Forum Games" forum, as well as hiding those posts from the "New Posts" button. I would like to know what everyone thinks. May I repeat, this is not a referendum. The votes in the poll do not necessarily directly determine what the ultimate resolution should be. Options (how statistics are affected) Option A: Count posts, count likes Option B: Don't count posts, count likes Option C: Don't count posts, don't count likes (no changes) Plans on forum separation Plan A: Keep a single "Off-Topic" forum Plan B: Separate into "Off-Topic" and "Forum Game" forums Plan C: Separate into many forums ("MCPE", "Programming", "Politics", "Off-Topic from Off-Topic", "Forum Game", etc.)
We should have an off-topic section for random mcpe hacking and development. e.g. If my work on documenting the private realms and marketplace apis was made into some kind of program it could be posted there
Is it possible to put the like button back but don't actually count the likes? At least you'll be able to indicate good posts.
I agree to the top part, but I think they shouldn't be hidden from new posts because then less people will take part in the games. Edit: Fix grammar
Because it will break the posts-to-likes ratio if posts don't count but likes count. And we don't want people to have very high post count just because of the forum games. So far, 7 people have voted for Plan A -- but what's wrong with Plan B?
That's the "Plan B, Option A for off-topic and Option C for forum games" option, right? Seems you voted wrongly?
No need for games and off topic, they are the same thing pretty much... As for posts/likes don't care
There are some offtopic threads that are indeed serious discussion about community stuff and other topics that don't fit anywhere on the forums.
